Still Life with Fruit and Flowers
In Still Life with Fruit and Flowers, Alvi Siren creates an abundant tabletop composition where fruit, flowers, vessels, and foliage merge into a richly layered scene. The arrangement brings together pears, white grapes, dark grapes, apples, pomegranate, and other fruit, while vases of red and pink flowers rise behind them in an expressive field of green and pale blue.
The foreground is anchored by a large plate filled with pale grapes and green-yellow pears. Their rounded forms are painted with soft highlights and muted shadows, creating a luminous contrast against the darker tabletop. Behind the plate, a cluster of deep violet grapes adds weight and richness, while the red apples and pomegranate on the right introduce warmth and intensity.
Flowers play an equally important role in the composition. A central vase holds dense red blossoms surrounded by broad green leaves, while a second floral arrangement appears on the right, its pink-red flowers emerging from a cooler blue-green vase. These vertical elements lift the still life upward, connecting the fruit below with the loose floral forms and abstracted background above.
The table and surrounding space remain deliberately fluid. Rather than defining a precise interior, Alvi uses layered strokes of green, blue, white, red, and ochre to create an atmosphere of movement and abundance. The boundary between tabletop, background, fruit, and flowers becomes softened, allowing the whole scene to feel alive with colour and painterly energy.
Through its combination of classical still-life subjects and expressive abstraction, Still Life with Fruit and Flowers becomes a celebration of richness, growth, and gathered beauty. Alvi Siren transforms the table into a vibrant world of fruit and blossoms – generous, textured, and full of visual movement.
