Lilies and Green Apples

In Lilies and Green Apples, Alvi Siren arranges pale lilies and green apples across a warm terracotta-red table. The tall floral composition rises above the fruit, while the transparent glass jug forms a cool, structured centre within the vertical canvas.

Two lilies open towards opposite sides of the composition, their cream and pale yellow petals defined by soft green-blue contours. Dark red stamens provide concentrated accents within each flower, while two unopened buds extend upwards, introducing a sense of continuing growth.

The glass jug is painted in layered tones of turquoise, emerald, blue, and white. Its curving outline, handle, and reflective surface remain clearly visible, yet the stems can still be seen passing through the vessel. This transparency connects the flowers above with the fruit and table below.

Five green apples are distributed across the lower half of the painting. Three gather closely near the jug, while two are placed farther forward and to the right. Their rounded forms create a loose visual rhythm and contrast with the lilies’ pointed petals, slender stems, and upright movement.
