In Still Life with Pomegranate, Lemons and Grapes, Alvi Siren arranges fruit, bottles, and a small glass within a richly coloured composition. The work centres on the vivid contrast between a halved red pomegranate, golden lemons, and abundant clusters of grapes.
The pomegranate occupies the lower centre, its open interior revealing tightly gathered crimson seeds. Its crown-like calyx and saturated red surface give the fruit a commanding presence, while the exposed centre introduces intricate detail among the surrounding rounded forms.
Clusters of grapes extend across the composition in pale green, blue-violet, and near-black. Their repeated forms create a dense visual rhythm around the pomegranate and partially overlap the vessels behind them. In the foreground, four luminous lemons provide an expansive field of yellow and establish a strong contrast with the cooler grapes.
Two bottles rise behind the fruit: a tall amber vessel on the left and a shorter red-brown bottle on the right. Reflections of white, gold, and deep red animate their glass surfaces, while a small golden glass near the right edge introduces a final upright accent among the fruit.
The softly worked olive-green background and pale tabletop bind the composition together through warm, muted colour. Through classical arrangement, expressive outlines, and vivid chromatic contrasts, Alvi transforms familiar fruit and vessels into a celebration of ripeness, variety, and domestic abundance.
