The Harvest Table
In The Harvest Table, Alvi Siren presents a richly textured still life filled with fruit, vegetables, and leafy green forms arranged across a tabletop. The composition has a generous, abundant quality, bringing together peppers, apples, a pomegranate, a pear, lemons, and clusters of pale vegetables within a dense field of green.
The left side of the painting is animated by rounded and elongated forms: red and yellow peppers, deep purple shapes, pale green produce, and a vivid red pomegranate. Their saturated colours create a lively contrast against the cooler tabletop and the darker green background. Below them, red apples add warmth and weight, anchoring the arrangement with their rounded forms.
Across the centre, green leaves spread through the composition in layered, expressive strokes. These leafy passages connect the different objects, giving the still life a sense of movement and natural growth rather than a strictly arranged tabletop display. To the right, yellow fruit and a pale pear introduce softer tones, balancing the strong reds and purples on the left.
Alvi’s brushwork gives the painting a tactile, almost earthy surface. Thick marks, scraped textures, and luminous highlights create a sense of freshness and material richness. The dark frame-like edges and shadowed background heighten the feeling of a classic still life, while the expressive handling keeps the image vivid and contemporary.
Rather than simply cataloguing produce, The Harvest Table becomes a celebration of abundance, colour, and seasonal vitality. Through layered greens, glowing reds, yellow highlights, and textured brushwork, Alvi Siren transforms the table into a lively image of gathered nourishment and painterly richness.
