Abstract with Three Pears

In Abstract with Three Pears, Alvi Siren transforms a simple still life into a quiet composition of fruit, colour, and atmospheric space. Three pale golden pears stand at the centre of the painting, arranged on a blue-green plate that seems to dissolve into the surrounding field of colour.

The pears are painted in soft yellows, pale greens, cream, and muted ochre, with darker stems rising sharply from their rounded forms. Their luminous surfaces contrast with the cool blue and turquoise tones around them, giving the fruit a calm, sculptural presence within the abstract setting.

The plate is only partly defined. Its curved edge appears at the lower part of the composition, but the form fades outward into blue, green, and shadowed passages, creating a horizon-like effect. Loose grapes gather around the plate, especially toward the lower left, adding small rounded accents and a secondary rhythm to the stillness of the pears.

The background is spacious and atmospheric, built from layered turquoise, teal, blue-grey, and dark green tones. Rather than describing a clear tabletop or interior, Alvi creates a field of light and depth in which the fruit appears suspended between still life and abstraction.

Through its restrained palette and softened structure, Abstract with Three Pears becomes a meditation on balance, quietness, and form. Alvi Siren transforms three familiar fruits into luminous shapes held within blue-green space – simple, still, and gently dreamlike.
