River of Light
In River of Light, Alvi Siren creates an atmospheric landscape where water, sky, and sun merge into a luminous field of colour. A wide river flows through the lower half of the composition, reflecting a pale sun that hovers above the distant horizon.
The sky is painted in sweeping passages of red, rose, pink, white, and soft blue, creating a dramatic sense of movement across the upper part of the painting. The sun appears small but powerful, surrounded by a yellow glow that spreads outward into the clouds and descends into the water below.
The river becomes the emotional centre of the work. Its surface is rendered in warm golds, muted greens, soft creams, and reddish shadows, with the sun’s reflection forming a bright vertical path through the centre. This reflected light connects sky and water, giving the composition a quiet sense of depth and continuity.
Along the horizon, low dark forms suggest distant land, trees, or riverside banks. These understated shapes ground the expansive sky and glowing river, while allowing the atmosphere to remain open and contemplative. The surrounding reds and earthy tones add warmth, balancing the coolness of the pale blue sky.
Rather than a literal landscape, River of Light becomes a meditation on stillness, transition, and reflected radiance. Through expressive brushwork, soft colour shifts, and luminous atmosphere, Alvi Siren captures a moment where the river seems to hold the light – calm, expansive, and quietly alive.
