Burgundy Lily Medallion

In Burgundy Lily Medallion, Alvi Siren presents a single water lily within the concentrated geometry of an octagonal card panel. The flower occupies the centre of the composition, its dense gathering of petals surrounded by vivid green gestures, blue-grey curves, and areas of exposed card.

The bloom is built from deep burgundy, crimson, plum, and violet. Dark outlines separate the overlapping petals, while brighter touches of red and magenta bring selected forms forward. Pale pink and lavender accents appear around the centre and along several outer petals, introducing light into the otherwise rich, shadowed flower.

At the heart of the lily, fine pink and cream marks radiate from a small luminous centre. The surrounding petals rise and overlap in an irregular circular formation, creating a sense of the bloom opening outward while retaining a compact, sculptural density.

Unlike the enveloping blue background of Water Lily Medallion, the natural surface of the card panel remains visible across much of this work. Blue-grey circular lines loosely enclose the flower, suggesting water or reflected movement, while broad lime-green strokes introduce flashes of foliage and light around the edges.

The octagonal format reinforces the flower’s radial structure. Its eight sides frame the spreading petals like a medallion, while the substantial wooden frame gives the small painting the presence of a self-contained decorative object.
