Wild Rose in Bloom

In Wild Rose in Bloom, Alvi Siren preserves the physical form of a flowering wild rose within a tactile rectangular plaque. Real botanical specimens appear embedded across the pale surface, bringing together branching stems, serrated leaves, pink petals, flower buds, and developing rosehips.

The stems rise through the composition in an open, natural arrangement. Some extend almost vertically, while others cross and divide towards the edges of the plaque. Their irregular placement retains the character of a plant gathered from nature rather than arranged as a conventional floral display.

Compound leaves spread along the branches in varied shades of fresh green, yellow-green, and muted olive. Their delicate veins and finely serrated edges remain clearly visible, allowing the original structure of the plant to become an essential part of the artwork’s surface.

Among the foliage, translucent pink petals unfold beside rounded green fruits and partially opened buds. These different botanical stages coexist within the same composition, capturing the wild rose between flowering and the formation of rosehips. Touches of crimson bring greater intensity to selected petals, while soft traces of colour appear to bleed into the ivory ground.

The raised leaves, stems, and fruit give the work a sculptural dimension. Light settles differently across each textured element, making the botanical forms appear to emerge from the plaque. The rectangular format further accentuates the upward growth of the stems and distinguishes the piece from the circular hanging reliefs in the series.
