In Red Blooms on Green, Alvi Siren presents three coral-red flowers against a dense field of dark green, transforming a simple floral subject into a bold composition of colour, rhythm, and contrast. The blooms open across the canvas in different directions, creating a dynamic arrangement that feels both botanical and graphic.
The flowers are painted in warm tones of red, coral, pink, and soft white. Long pointed petals radiate outward from pale centres, where green linear details add structure and movement. Darker outlines and glimpses of white ground sharpen the petal forms, giving the flowers a striking clarity against the surrounding green.
Alvi’s brushwork gives the painting its energetic surface. The petals are shaped with visible, confident strokes, while the background is built from deep greens, lighter flecks, and textured passages of paint. This contrast between the warm floral forms and the cool, shadowed ground creates a vivid visual tension.
The dark green field does not describe a detailed garden setting, but instead acts as an expressive space of colour and depth. White openings and broken marks across the surface create a sense of light breaking through foliage, while the repeated red blooms bring rhythm and balance to the composition.
Rather than a traditional floral painting, Red Blooms on Green becomes an exploration of floral form as pattern, gesture, and colour. Through bold contrast, simplified petals, and a richly textured ground, Alvi Siren captures the flowers as bright, graphic presences – vivid, open, and alive within the green.
