In Garden Strawberries, Alvi Siren brings the viewer close to a small harvest of red fruit gathered among vivid green leaves. A bowl filled with ripe strawberries sits within the foliage, while trailing stems, loose berries, and a pale blossom suggest the living plant still growing around it.

The strawberries form the bright centre of the composition. Painted in rich reds, crimson, orange, and touches of yellow, the fruit appears glossy and full, with small seed-like marks and white highlights catching the light across their rounded surfaces. Their warmth stands out strongly against the darker greens and shadowed tones of the surrounding garden.

Alvi’s brushwork gives the painting a lively, tactile quality. Broad strokes shape the leaves, stems, and background, while smaller marks build the berries’ texture and ripeness. The bowl is defined by curved pale lines, holding the fruit together within the dense movement of the garden.

Around the bowl, the leaves open in different directions, creating a rhythmic structure of greens, yellows, and deep blue shadows. The darker background adds depth, while flashes of bright green and red keep the composition active and fresh. The small flower beneath the bowl introduces a delicate note, linking the gathered fruit to the continuing cycle of growth.

Rather than a traditional still life, Garden Strawberries becomes a celebration of abundance, freshness, and seasonal pleasure. Through expressive colour, layered texture, and close observation, Alvi Siren transforms the bowl of strawberries into a vivid image of summer growth – ripe, luminous, and alive within the garden.
