Feline Geometry

In Feline Geometry, Alvi Siren reduces the familiar form of a seated cat to a powerful arrangement of colour, line, and structure. Built from broad passages of reddish-brown, charcoal, and deep earthy tones, the cat occupies the centre of the composition, enclosed within a striking blue framework that gives the work its distinctive architectural character.

The figure is intentionally simplified. Angular ears, a curved tail, and a compact seated posture establish the identity of the cat, while facial features remain only loosely defined through energetic brushstrokes and dark contour lines. Rather than pursuing realism, Alvi explores the essential presence of the animal through shape and rhythm.

The blue rectangular framework surrounding the cat plays a central role in the composition. It functions simultaneously as a frame, window, boundary, and abstract structure, creating a dialogue between containment and freedom. The cool blue lines contrast sharply with the warm rust and brown tones of the cat, generating a dynamic visual tension throughout the painting.
